Google PageRank Update August 2007
30
Yes, it looks like it has finally started. From the best I can determine, the backlink export has finished and can be viewed on http://72.14.205.100/ . This seems to be the most vibrant of the datacenters at the moment. I have been monitoring the thread at Digital Point Forums and alot of new domains and inner pages are receiving the update first. Keep in mind that a PageRank update can take about 8 days to finish and then the toolbar will receive the export.
So far we haven’t seen any changes to already established websites. We’ll keep updating our readers as new information becomes available. In the meantime, feel free to visit my new personal blog, simply davidrdavisjr.com.
If you would like my personal analysis of your domain and my predictions for this update, leave me a comment here.

I am always interested in predictions…can you help..??
I have seen pr drop on internal pages. I do have very few links but excellent content and site structure. We are 8 months old roughly.
I would be interested in your comments. http://www.theseoagency.com
Tim, this PR export is taking along time and is still ongoing. I’ve sent you my opinions by email.
Its definitely been an interesting update this time around. I’ve seen a new site with an incorrect PR4 go from PR4 to PR0 to PR4 to PR0. Must be a party in the datacenters
I dont see anything updating yet and its the 16th
I haven’t noticed any Google PR updates for my sites till 16th of August! When will it actually start? Any idea?
Well, there seems to be a problem with the export process. Maybe Google is testing some new filters or maybe there was a glitch…as to when it will start? Your guess is probable as good as mine. There is some talk of maybe this weekend.
Have been following Google since 1998, I believe it is going to be a major update (Google Dance i.e. changes in Google algorithms) rather then only a PR update around 31st August or 1st September. I call it “Google School Dance”. You heard it first in here.
@Tim
Yes, I have a tendancy to agree with you. Major changes in the SERPs the last few days. Rolling out some new filters, maybe?
Can anybody say for certain the exact date that PR’s are updated in the various sectors of the world or is it completely random.
Surely someone has to know someone working in the Google team?
Great post by the way…
Thanks.
Thank you for you comments Sanel. As for an exact date? Who knows? One theory is that during The Google Dance at SES San Jose, Matt Cutts is going to “push the button” and start the update. I believe that there is a going to be some algorithm changes and new “paid link” filters applied for the first time. Your guess is as good as mine.
Hello,
What do you predict about my site http://www.funwadi.com http://www.pkvehicles.com & http://www.ewebsites.net
@AbdulBasit
http://www.funwadi.com – PR6
http://www.pkvehicles.com – PR3
http://www.ewebsites.net – PR1
Best of Luck and Good Job!
Just wondering if you could check this one out.

I’m new at this stuff, but I’m hoping that I will get a ranking on this update. Will you look at my site and take a guess at it’s PR. Thanks!

@mom
I’m guessing a PR4.
Thanks David!
One of my websites was longterm regularly getting 5000 -6000 visitors a day, and on the first page of google for several major search terms. Then suddenly,for no apparently reason, August 25-26, it dropped to 700 visitors a day, and the site url disappeared from the google search engine completely, that weekend. It then reappeared – but further down google page over next few days for the same terms. Visitor numbers slowly climbed back to about 3000 a day. Then, yesterday, 3rd Sept – my site again vanished from google search engine and only got 500 visitors. Any idea whats happening, and if it will come back to it’s old position? Many thanks!
@Debra
I would guess that Google is changing the ways it scores websites; there have been lots of fluctuations lately in the SERPs. Just ride it out for awhile and see where you settle. If things don’t improve, seek professional help (SEO).
Hi,
We are fairly new to internet marketing and selling of products, although we have had a business for a while. I am trying to get our site in the google PR and BL. I am doing a lot of research on these and affiliate links. I have book marked this site. Any ideas on getting a higher PR to http://www.christianwareonline.com
Thanks,
TByrd
Tbyrd,
Create more backlinks.
@TA Byrd,
Thanks for bookmarking here. I really appreciate it. I must agree with raj, create more backlinks. But you should make sure that all your backlinks are:
1. From trusted sites
2. Relevant to your own site
3. Targeted to your potential customer
The reason for #3 is simple. It doesn’t matter if you have a PR0 or PR10, if all your visitors bounce, your business will fail
.
The upside is that it is within your control.
Thanks, welcome, and keep reading here and other seo sites as well!
I really like your website. Nice job!
I lost 500 pages in the index and lost some of my key traffic pages!
@Darin,
Try using this search in google: site:www.mkemortgage.net/&
Looks like you pages, all 1,280 of them, have been de-listed from the main index and fallen into the supplemental index.
With that said, my recommendation is to work on you content, especially the footer area where all those links are. New filters may have been placed in the Google algorithms that have cost your site it’s previous position. You could ride it out and see if they get placed back in, but I doubt it.
Thank you for your review i appreciate you taking you time to look at my site.
I have almost 1600 pages on that site. Strange only 1280 are listed, my traffic did fall from 1200 per day to 200 or so. is the site:domain.com/& an accurate way to check pages in the supplemental index? I tried a search here and it says i have about 239 in the supplemental http://oyoy.eu/google/supplemental/?url=http://www.mkemortgage.net
This makes sense because when i checked site:mkemortgage.net this morning it listed 1310 pages indexed 1310 + 239 is 1539 so its close to my total page number?
Not saying you are wrong or anything at all just trying to figure this all out since i am a newbie!
@darin,
Last week, using the site:www.example.com/& operator was working. Looks like that one has been disabled by Google. I would have a tendancy to believe that the site that you used is giving closer to accurate results. Whew!
When using site:www.dcgwebdesign.com/& (my main company website) a few minutes ago, it showed all my pages included as well. Let’s hope the oyoy.eu site is accurate!
Sorry if I sent you off in panic mode.
Best of Luck to you and thanks for stopping by.
i did notice that a regular site:mkemortgage.net shows me at 1380 pages indexed, i was at 1500 and change before the update, i did fall to 111 yesterday so yes i was panicing badly!! 24 hours ago i was at 1200 so i picked up 180 in fact 20 in the last hour so something is going on! Traffic is picking back up very slowy as well. I will say that i notice alot of my newest pages that are 72 hours old bringing in traffic??? A side note this site has been up since 2005.
Thanks for your help, i have bookmarked your site as i find it very informative!
Thanks Darin, I believe that if you continue to provide your user with fresh, informative content in an non-intrusive, friendly manner, your websites will continue to do well. Great job!
David/Raj,
Thanks for the information. I will try more back links. Right now my backlinks to directories who require a recipocal link in order to be considered. Does this count against the site in any way? Also, I recently tried an seo software that will auto submit to over 700K directories… any comments.
TByrd
@TA,
Most SEOs would agree that the best way to get backlinks is in a natural, editorial manner. Too many backlinks too soon may indicate to Google as a desire to artificially manipulate the search engine results. Also, it is rumored right now that pagerank from link directories that have really high pagerank from purchasing backlinks is being recalculated. It MAY be that if you have a backlink that was being counted as, let’s say, PR5; but that PR5 was calculated including several bought links, then that link no longer passes pagerank. The question still unanswered is: Does this affect the SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Rages)?
