This has really been a tough month for us at DCGWS i-Net Solutions. I recently changed domain names in hopes that a keyword-rich domain name would immediately boost my search engine traffic…man, was I mistaken! My traffic has trickled down to next to nothing. If Yahoo and Google were as easy to please as MSN I would be doing very well.

I suppose it is too late now, just (not so patiently waiting for the BLs to transfer over to the new domain. In the meantime…get a lifetime Featured Link on our Premium Web Directory for $20.00…

How did this finally work out for you. The name change appeared to have happened several months ago.

I was thinking about rebuilding and putting Angel Figurines in my domain name or at least for my next website (having a more revelant name to the products for home decor), which will have a few of the same products as well as many new products.

Actually, after all was said and done, this has worked out very well for us. However, I would definitely suggest using dashes (hyphens) to seperate your keywords in the domain name. Might be a little difficult for returning visitors to remember, but much better for SERPs.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for the reply. That was a really good idea, to separate using dashes. I was pondering on how to separate. I tend to like the underscore. Do you see any issues with underscore instead of dashes. I am really concerned with how different OS’s will handled a dash -vs- underscore.

I am thinking about either opening a new webstite really soon (before the holiday season is over, however it seems to be getting a little late to get into the game for this year) or adding more items to my website. The issue (I have internally) is because of the website name, adding other items, seems to be a little off-topic. Prehaps, we should have put more thought into the name. Initially, we wanted to assure that the items found on our site are for the general audience and not of a mature audience content.

However, I have seen other Christian sites which have a lot more content. Do you have any suggestion on this? Another thing is the rising cost of having to open a second merchant services account (MSA) for the websites. It just seems redundant, however the want a different account for each site.

Any thought ideas are welcome. I have been looking at all your new and past post, the content is good.

For the question regarding dashes vs underscore, I’ll let Google’s Matt Cutts answer it for you. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/dashes-vs-underscores/

Thanks for reading my ideas and thoughts, not always SEO related. :)

Domain names are relately inexpensive and if you want the really profitable SE traffic, it’s all in the domain name. At least most of it anyway.
